Frank’s POV

Weeks had passed by and before we all knew it, we were being given report cards for the first term in school. Wasn’t it like yesterday that I was down and depressed, fed up with the bullshit of life? Now my perspective had totally changed and I didn’t mind waking up every morning because I actually found something to look forward to. Now I have Gerard. I still clearly remember his face when he ran into me on the first day of school. His cheeks were red with embarrassment and he looked too fucking cute when he was panicked. Things have only been getting better from there and I was actually pretty psyched to spend our sophomore year, and hopefully even the rest of our years in high school together.

It was Monday and I hit the floor with my hair a mess and a positive outlook . It wasn’t just any Monday, though. It was the start of Homecoming week. I usually never looked forward to these things, but this year I had pep and also someone to go to the dance with, at least I hoped so. Today I was going to ask Gerard if he wanted to go with me. School events, let alone dances weren’t really our thing, but we could at least go for the heck of it, and maybe even have a good time. Honestly, I was really looking forward to people watching. I heard that some pretty crazy things went down during homecoming. Of course I wouldn’t know that, but this year I was going to. I felt like a little kid who was getting to play the lead in a Christmas play or something, I was so fucking excited.

I threw on clothing for today’s theme, which was 80s (fuck yeah), and grabbed a bite to eat as I headed out the door for the bus. When I got on I noticed everyone decked out in leather and old band tees, bad jumpsuits, and loads of Aqua Net. I myself chose an old Dead Kennedys tee, black pants, and I half-ass teased my shaggy hair. Wasn’t much different than my daily wear, but I guess you could say I was stuck in the 80s. The time period was free and full of kick-ass music legends. I swear I was born in the wrong decade.

Now I was just curious as to what Gerard was wearing.

I laughed a bit too loud when he and Mikey made their way down the driveway to the bus stop. They hurried on and to their regular seats.

“Oh my God.” I giggled, “Are you-“

“David Bowie? Yeah. I wasn’t gonna go this extreme, but God forbid my mother find out it’s a dress up day. I feel like a fucking Edward Cullen reject. Damn glitter’s in my eye.” He rubbled cutely at his eyes while still ranting about his mom.

We made it into our first period classes, separated from each other. As if linear inequalities sparked my fucking interest. Then finally after the rambling of Stegall, the bell rang. I gathered my things and made my way to my locker and found Gerard there waiting for me. We began our usual stroll to the band room for music appreciation.

No better time to pop the question on him than now.

“Hey Gee?” Being the chicken I was when it came to these things, I kept my eyes on my feet, watching my dirty, worn our converse glide across the pavement alongside Gerard’s boots. I sure as hell wasn’t gonna try and attempt eye contact.

“Yeah?” he answered. I could feel his eyes on me.

  “This week’s homecoming…”

“I didn’t know.” He laughed sarcastically. Smartass.

“You didn’t let me finish!” I snapped, “I’ve never really gave two fucks about it, or school in general but… I want to enjoy it since I actually have someone to truly enjoy it with. I was wondering if uh, you know, wanted to go to the dance this Friday after the game.” I choked on my words and I bet I sounded like an idiot right now. I never knew I would even think about asking someone to a dance, much less a dude, but I just did.

He smiled tenderly to himself. “Sure, I like dancing.” A giggle managed to escape from him.

  “Oh my gosh! I mean-really? You don’t think it’s dumb? I mean, it’s a dance.”

“Gerard grabbed my shoulders, stopping us in our tracks and pushed a finger to my lips.

“I know it’s a dance, and I said I’d like to go. If you don’t wanna go, we won’t go, we’ll find something else to do. I only wanna go if you’re going, Iero.”

His tone was soothing and it stopped me from making an even bigger idiot out of myself than I already did.

“I’m sorry Gee. I’ve never asked anyone to a dance or anything, and I know they’re not really your thing, but I just-“

“Shut up, Frank! We’re going and there’s no reason for your nervous yet cute, mindless babbling. Now, let’s get to class!” He said, pulling me forward towards the direction of the band room.  I shut my mouth and just followed him to our next class.

I had nothing really to worry about now other than figuring out what I was going to wear Friday, how I was gonna do my hair, how we’d get there, and everything else. Shit. I wanted things to be perfect, and Gerard just seemed so damn chill about it. But I guess we’ll cross all those bridges when we come to them.
Long awaited chapter 17 folks! Not my best, but It's finally up and hopefully it will hold you over. This may/may not be the most cliche Frerard ever, but I like reading these so don't hate. xD To those that are still sticking with this story, thank you. :) I'll put up another chapter soon. Comments and favorites make me happy. c:
